In the old days you had the bubblegum packs with baseball cards, hockey cards etc… Today you have the all new card games where you have starter decks, theme decks and booster packs. Today’s card games are more complex and their lifespan is much longer. They also provide more possibilities and give the player a chance to build his or her personal deck for when playing against others. Among popular series are Pokémon and lately Yu-Gi-Oh has been the no. 1 series here in Finland. New series such as Ben 10 are also just picking up.
Card games provide a chance for social contact and also a collectable hobby since many of the cards have value and are sought after amongst players around the world. Especially with sport cards they even have swap meets where true collector’s trade cards.
